INexactly THIS, the 2012 edition of Kunstvlaai: Festival of Independents brings together some of the most significant and unique models of artist-‐run spaces, self-‐organized platforms as well as art schools from across The Netherlands and abroad.
Cross Casting
Cross casting has a long history, from ancient Greek and English Renaissance theatre to Japanese Kabuki and South Asian traditions such as Bharatanatyam and Jatra. It challenges conventional ideas of gender by showing that physical appearance does not have to define identity or expression.
Shutter Project
The shutter project is an extended part of 12 years’ celebration of Britto show, Cross-Casting. We invited eight young artists to conceive and execute four projects in relation to the theme of the exhibition and to strengthen the neighbourhood relations in this particular public space.
